Green Award welcomes Danfoss IXA to the network of Incentive Providers

Danfoss IXA, a part of the Danfoss Group in Denmark decided to join Green Award’s network of Incentive Providers by offering a 5% discount on their Marine Emission Sensor, MES1001. The incentive is applicable to ocean-going ships as well as inland navigating ships.

The maker of the MES1001, Danfoss IXA develops sensors and systems for the maritime industry, solving energy optimization and measurement of emission gases. Danfoss IXA was established in April 2009 and before that, started as one of the ventures within the Danfoss Group.

Air emission monitoring and proactively taking action for it is one of the most important environmental topics right now. With over 50 various environmental and safety topics covered within the Green Award certification programme, Danfoss IXA’s product fits suitably in continuous improvement for environmental protection.

The Marine Emission Sensor, MES1001 continuously measures NOx, SO2 and NH3 directly (in situ) in the exhaust system and helps ship owners/managers to monitor and document compliance with local and international emission regulations. The sensors are very robust withstanding extreme temperatures and is also self-calibrating, which means limited maintenance.

About Green Award

The Green Award foundation was established in 1994. In 2011 a certification program was launched. Green Award is a global, independent, non-for profit quality assurance organization that works by certifying ship managers and vessels that go beyond the industry standards in terms of safety, quality and environmental performance. The scheme is open for sea-going oil and chemical tankers, bulk carriers, LNG and LPG carriers, container carriers and inland navigation barges.

The essential of Green Award is that it covers a wide range of aspects related to safety quality and the environment. Green Award brings together high quality ships, maritime service providers and ports that want to improve safety, attract quality ships and reduce environmental and safety risks. In fact Green Award acts as the platform for the industry cooperation. Green Award incentive providers (ports and maritime service providers) award ships the highest safety and quality standards of which are confirmed by the Green Award certificate with various benefits such as discounts on the port dues, products and services.
